GRILLED CALAMARI RECIPE - SPICY GRILLED SQUID

GRILLED CALAMARI/GRILLED SQUID

A very simple dish to prepare with squid that does not take much of your time and yet it is delectable in each bite. I have shared many squid recipes/calamari recipes on my blog like pan fried calamari recipe, stuffed squid recipe but this is the first time am posting a  grilled squid or grilled calamari on my blog hoping that this will turn out to be a winner. While googling for grilled squid recipes, I have gone through a Korean recipe with a yummy looking photo. So thought of trying the same with some variations to suit my taste. My kids are very fond of calamari/squid recipes especially squid roast and squid fry. This spicy grilled squid will surely make a spectacular side dish for dinner along with rice, bread or chapati. Grilled seafood recipes must be served hot, sizzling on the table will surely make everyone appetizing. As this squid is too big in size, you can cut the rings with scissors while eating. Here is the recipe showing how to grill squid/ cooking calamari/ squid recipes/squid steak/Japanese grilled squid recipe/cooking squid/grilled seafood recipes/grilled seafood platter recipe/seafood dishes/ seafood grill.

  • Clean the squid. Separate the head and tentacles from the body and clean it completely. The squid body must be completely hollow. You must remove the backbone carefully and as this squid is too large you have to join the backside of squid with the help of toothpicks. You can watch the video along with this recipe for more details. Wash well the cleaned squid with salt and rinse several times with water. When done, dry it using a towel and set aside. Slice the top part of the squid gently leaving the bottom side intact.
  • Now make the marinade by combining all the ingredients given under 'to marinate'. Mix it well. Marinate the squid with this marinade properly. Drizzle oil over it ( do not skip this).
  • Grill it in a grill pan or in a preheated oven at 210 degree C for 25 to 35 minutes or until the top of the squid turns red and done.
  • Arrange the grilled squid on a bed of lettuce and coriander leaves on a serving plate. Top it with chopped coriander leaves. Serve hot.
