TOMATO GARLIC CHUTNEY

Here am with an easy, spicy chutney recipe which is the best side dish for dosa and idli. South Indian breakfast recipes includes very flavorful, fantastic and wide varities of  Idli, dosa, upma and like so. As a mom, breakfast is a big issue for me. Dosa is my favorite breakfast recipe and i often try different varieties in it. It tastes good only when it is served with chutney or some subjis ..right??? Dosa with coconut chutney is my all time favorite breakfast. 
There are many varieties in chutney too.. Some are spicy, some are tangy, and some includes both. Coconut is the main ingredient for most of the breakfast chutneys. Coconut chutney , mint chutney, onion chutney, coriander chutney, garlic chutney, tomato chutney / Thakkali chutney  are some of the most popular chutneys with Indian breakfast cuisine. Today, lets have a look on a very simple, tangy and spicy tomato garlic chutney. Do try and enjoy cooking.

INGREDIENTS


Onion                     - 2, small

Tomato                   - 3, small 
Dried red chilies     - 4 nos, add according to the hotness of chili
Garlic                      - 4 or 5 cloves
Oil
Salt


SEASONING

Mustard seeds          - half tsp
Urad dal                   - quarter tsp
Curry leaves


PREPARATION

  • Heat oil in a pan and saute red chilies for few seconds.
  • Add garlic (no need of chopping) and saute for a while. Then add sliced onion. Saute onion until it becomes transparent.
  • And now add the tomatoes and saute until tomatoes turn mushy.
  • Check for salt and allow it to cool.
  • Once cooled grind it to a fine paste.
  • Transfer it to a bowl.
  • Now heat a pan with 1 tsp of oil. Splutter mustard seed and urad dal. When done, add curry leaves and pour it over the prepared mixture.
  • It is best when served along with dosa, idly, upma.
  • Delicious.
